MYSTIC NOVELS

Mystical - Belonging to secret rites. Of or pertaining to an ancient mystery. Remote from or beyond human comprehension; baffling understanding; unknowable; obscure;  mysterious.

Mysticism - Mystic quality of character. The doctrine that the ultimate nature of reality or the divine essence may be known in an immediate apprehension, intuition, or insight, differing from all ordinary sensation or ratiocensation; hence, the experience or ecstasy of those mystics who claim to attain this insight in vision, trance, or sense of absorption in, or union with, the divine spirit or the ultimate being. The doctrine of the Mystics, who professed direct intercourse with the divine Spirit, and a knowledge of God and of spiritual things unattainable by the natural intellect, and incapable of being analyzed or explained. As a Christian philosophy, Mysticism originated in the 12th century with Bernard of Clairvaux (1091 - 1153) and his pupils, Hugh, Richard, and Walter of St. Victor.
